Loading PLA Into ATOM 2

Trim the PLA filament (to a clean and unbent segment) at an angle with diagonal cutting pliers to give filament a sharp tip. Note the angle and orientation in relation to the filament curve: the sharp point of the filament should be on the outer curve (fig.1).

With the printer powered on, press down the control knob on the printer control panel and select:
[Prepare > Preheat 200 deg]

Push the plunger arm of the extruder assembly and feed the filament through the holes and about 2cm visibly into the teflon tube (fig.2)

Once the hotend has heated up to 200 degrees, as shown on the LCD status screen. select: [Prepare > Load Filament]

 

 

Troubleshooting

If the filament has been fed all the way to the hotend but is not coming out of the hotend tip, remove the teflon tube on the hotend assembly.




 


 

1. While the hotend is at 200 degrees and heating is still on, press down on the upper portion of the quick
   connector (fig.3) and pull the teflon tube out (fig.4).
 

2. Pull the PLA filament out from the inside of the hotend.
 

3. Push the filament back into the tip until about 5cm of filament squeezes out of the hotend.
 

4. Insert the teflon tube back into the hotend assembly through the quick connector.
